facts:
longest ever place kick was by Paul Thorburn, full-back for Wales. In 1986, v. Scotland at Cardiff Arms Park, he kicked a penalty a distance of 70 yards and 8 inches. the longest drop kick ever was by
french rugby teams players kicked a 87meter drop goal against wellington at atheletic park. I know that sounds crazy but if you have ever been to wellington and especally if you have been to atheletic park when a serious southerly is blowing you could understand how this could happen. A wellington southerly blows straight up from antartica and it can be difficult to stand when its really ripping. I lived there for 8 years and on two different occasions saw the ball blown back through the posts after a successful conversion.

facts on rugny kicking (records)
Since missing the conversion of Francois Louw's try in the first-half of the South Africa v Italy Test at Witbank on June 19, 2010, the Springbok fly-half has made 38 consecutive successful goal kicks spanning eight Tests. He remains "not out" so there is every chance that he will extend the run during the autumn internationals in Britain and Ireland.
drop kicking)
first get a ball, then look for a bit of flat grass then as you drop the ball make sure you drop the ball on one of the 2 points of the ball then as the ball hits the floor kick it just after it bounces. to get more elevation wait for the ball to rise a Little bit higher then strike through the ball and keep your foot following the ball for more power. :)
